Public Demonstration Permit
If the event involves (or in the past 24 months the same event has involved) 10,000 or more participants, the completed application and a certificate of insurance must be received in the Office of the Chief of Police of the Columbus Police Department at least fourteen (14) days prior to the date of the event. If less than 10,000 participants are expected, the application must be received at least ten (10) days prior to the date of the event (no certificate of insurance needed). If the applicant is applying for a festival permit on behalf of another individual or organization, a letter of authorization from the individual or authorized representative of the organization must be attached to the application giving the applicant authority to seek a permit on behalf of the individual or organization. Applicant or authorized leader of event must have the approved permit on their person during the event. (Chapter 17B of the city code). The amplified sound portion is only for events held on PUBLIC PROPERTY (city code 14-205). An Amplified Sound Permit WILL NOT be issued for events on PRIVATE PROPERTY (I.e.: homes, church grounds, shopping centers).
